Memo from Joey Fontenot, COO
Since March 2009, New Cardiovascular Horizons (NCVH) has been managed by a separate nonprofit entity called the South Louisiana Clinical Research Foundation (SLCRF). This change was made to facilitate a more freestanding conference and the ability for the conference to compete for educational grants that are sometimes very difficult for physician medical practices to qualify for under the stringent guidelines for obtaining such grants. These changes have benefited the conference and have allowed for several new educational opportunities to be created.
As was the case last year, CIS can no longer allow large numbers of employees to attend without having to pay registration fees. In essence, CIS does not manage the conference and must be certain to follow all of the rules that apply to nonprofit entities. Thus, if you would like to attend the conference, you must request approval from your Team Leader, pay your registration, and be responsible for your hotel room charges. This educational activity will be eligible for CME reimbursement should you have this benefit.
I certainly hope to see many of you at next year’s conference scheduled June 2-5, 2010 at The Roosevelt Waldorf-Astoria in New Orleans. A special discount rate of $199 will be extended to CIS employees effective January 1, 2010 and will be available for the duration of the conference. Hotel rooms at the discounted rate of $199 will be available at The Roosevelt.
As always, the conference will be filled with many educational presentations and many live cases. NCVH is considered by many to be one of the finest medical conferences held each year and is always a great educational value.
As always, everyone’s support of the conference is greatly appreciated. I hope to see many of you there taking advantage of this educational opportunity at a great price.
